Dog Camp Rules

What are the requirements for camp?

You must be current on vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper and Bordatella (canine cough). You must be in good health, flea/tick free, friendly to all dogs, and generally love to play.

(flea/tick free: it is a good idea to ensure Fido has current flea/tick applications when visiting the Back 40, especially in spring/early summer)

What is the interview process all about?

We highly recommend that you come see where they will be staying and meet the resident dogs at camp.  It helps ease the camper being near mom and/or dad the first time they are at a new place meeting new dogs.  It makes the camping experience that much better for the four legged kids, not to mention easing the minds of mom and dad.

What days and times is the camp open?

Camping is open all year round, 365 days a year, 7 days a week. Since camp is combined with our home we are very flexible with your needs to pick-up or drop-off your camper at all hours of the day, and even night.

What do I wear to camp?

A collar with your ID tag. Each camper will also have his/own own camping tag placed on their collar throughout their stay on the Back 40.

If you would like us to keep your camper on leash during our walks, please bring his/her favorite long leash along.

What kind of gear do I need to go camping?

Bring enough food for their stay.  We want to keep as many things as possible the same for each camper to lessen their stress levels.

Your favorite toy or an old shirt that smells like mom or dad is always a good thing to curl up with at night or your favorite bed. However we have plenty of toys and beds if your camper is not too choosy.

Can I check in on my camper?

Of course! You can call or email at any time to check up on your camper. Sorry, no webcam yet...

When can I be dropped off and picked up?

Since camp is combined with our home we are very flexible with your needs to pick-up or drop-off your camper at all hours of the day, and even night. We also offer a pick-up service for a small additional charge.

Will someone be able to give me my medicine?

We administer medication in pill, powder or liquid form for no additional fee. We prefer not to give any injected medications. All medications should be in their original container. While we don’t use a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down, we will provide the peanut butter or cheese to help do so!

How do I make a reservation for camp?

Visit our reservation page. Click here to go directly to reservations.

Do you have camp showers?

Yes, we do offer a lovely shampoo and dry so you are fluffy and looking your best when mom/dad come to pick you up. Always a good idea after all the romps in the trees, mud, creeks and ponds! There is a small additional charge for a bath ($25).
